Upper Lune Valley from Orton Scar

For more than a year I’ve been trying to get some half decent photos of the Lune Valley from Orton Scar but it seems that every time I drive over there it’s misty. Well today it was a bit better. Not ideal, but I got three reasonable shots that give a fair idea of the area, the first one looking to the east.

This second shot is directed slightly towards southeast and with a wider angle lens to get the panorama. In the far distance in the right hand half of the photo are the Shap Fells, the Birkbeck Fells and Bretherdale Common.

The third, using a longer lens highlights Orton village with Tebay and the entrance to the Lune Gorge behind.

Maybe eventually I’ll get a really crystal clear day. If so I’ll post some more photos. It was in the late-1700s that my ancestors left this area and moved over the hills toward Kendal but somehow I still have a special affection for it.
